Josephine was the daughter of Louis/Lewis N. Wilbur, b. Jul. 1840 in CT. &
Sophia Day/Thay/Wade, b. abt. 1842 in Nova Scotia, Canada. Sophia was alive in the 1880 U.S. census, but died sometime before the 1900 U.S. census.

According to Massachusetts Town Vital Collections, 25 yr. old Lewis N. Wilbur, b. abt. 1839, son of Mathew G. & Selinda Wilbur, married 25 yr. old Sophia Thay, daughter of Matthew and Mary Thay on Oct. 17, 1864 in Taunton, MA.

Louis Wilbur and Sophia Day's children were:
1) George P. Wilbur, b. abt. 1869 in (Fitchburg, Worcester) MA. (George apparently died before the 1880 census.)
2) Josephine Wilbur, b. Jul. 12, 1870 in Fitchburg, Worcester, MA. and d. Dec. 5, 1951 in Pasadena, L.A., CA.
Josephine marr. Herman Porter Kimball.
3) Carrie Louise Wilbur, b. Nov. 9, 1873 in MA. and d. Dec. 24, 1947 in Los Angeles, CA.
Carrie marr. Henry F Coggshall. Carrie's mother's maiden name was Swift according to the CA. Death Index.

In the 1880 U.S. census, 9 yr. old Josephine Wilbur, b. abt. 1871 in MA., was living in Fitchburg, Worcester, MA. with her
40 yr. old father, Louis Wilbur, a jeweler, b. in CT.
38 yr. old mother, Sophia Wilbur, b. in Nova Scotia, Canada
and 6 yr. old sister, Carrie Wilbur, b. in MA.

Josephine married Herman Porter Kimball on Nov. 1, 1892 in Fitchburg City, Worcester, MA.
Herman was the son of Alpheus Porter Kimball, b. about 1821 in MA. and Susan P. Kimball, b. Sept. 1828 in MA.

In the 1900 U.S. census, 29 yr. old Josephine W. Kimball, b. Jul. 1870 in MA., was living in Fitchburg Ward 4, Worcester, MA. with her
34 yr. old husband, Herman H. Kimball, an electrical engineer, b. May 1866 in MA.
3 yr. old daughter, Madeline Kimball, b. Mar. 1897 in MA.
17 yr. old house servant, Mina Jensen, b. Mar. 1883 in Finland
Josephine and Herman married in 1893 and had been married for 7 yrs.
Both of Josephine's parents were b. in MA.
Josephine was the mother of one child, still alive by this census.

Josephine's father was b. in VT. and her mother in Eng. spkg. Canada.

55 yr. old Louis J. Loome, foreman at a machine shop, b. in France; his 34 yr. old wife, Clara F. Loome, b. in France; and their 18 mth. old daughter, June Loome
48 yr. old roomer, Thomas Williams, an office clerk, b. in Newfoundland
Both of Josephine's parents were b. in MA.

In her Apr. 24, 1924 U.S. Passport Application, 53 yr. old Josephine was described as 5'2" tall, with a medium forehead, blue eyes, straight nose, straight mouth, round chin, brown hair, medium complexion and an oval face.
Her husband, Herman Porter Kimball (born in Fitchburg, MA.) was deceased in June of 1914. She and her daughter, Madeleine, were residing in Boston, MA. She intended to sail aboard the Olimpic from NY to England, France, Switzerland, Italy and Spain for pleasure.

In the 1930 U.S. census, 60 yr. old widow, Josephine W. Kimball, b. abt. 1870 in MA., was living at 1236 Adair St. in San Marino, L.A., CA. with her
33 yr. old (head of household) son-in-law, Elmo H. Conley, an attorney in a law partnership, b. in KY.
33 yr. old daughter, Madeleine K. Conley, b. in MA.
1 yr. old granddaughter, Madeline K. Conley, b. in CA.
and 57 yr. old widowed sister, Carrie U. Coggshall, b. in MA.
Josephine's father was b. in CT. and her mother in Canada.
Elmo and Madeline were 27, Josephine was 23 and Carrie was 32 yrs. old at the time of their first marriages.
