ABSTRACT: Died at a local hospital after a long illnes. He came to Long Beach from Wisonsin 37 years ago and was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church. Born in New York Oct of 1845 his family moved to Wisconson when he was 2 years old. Aged 16 he joined Company A, Thirteenth Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry and was in the army 4 years. The 13th saw limited combat during the war.He was a member of the G.A.R. In 1868 he married Miss Emma M. Sailer. She died in Long Beach in 1902. In 1908 he married Miss M. Lavernie White, who survives him. Also survived by daughters Mrs. O.L. Spencer, well known local resident, and Mrs. Cora E. Gregg of Orange; grandchildren Mrs. Ethel L. Choate of Omaha, Neb., Margaret C. Gregg, Richard Gregg of Santa Ana; great grandchildren Elwood Leroy, Marian Inez and Wilbur Lee Choate of Omaha.
