Harold Wiesenthal died peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 27, 2012. Harold was known for his engaging smile, his generosity to total strangers and his trademark slogan, "Hi, I'm Harold. I dress 70, talk 80 and shoot 90 when my putter's hot." Born November 11, 1927 in Galveston and raised in Houston, Harold was the son of the late Goldie and Emanuel Wiesenthal. He was a graduate of San Jacinto High School and attended the University of Houston. Harold served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return to Houston, he was given a set of keys to Harolds in the Heights, a 1200 square foot men's store that his father built and opened for Harold and his older brother and business partner, Milton. From that small store, Harolds in the Heights became synonymous with well-dressed Houstonians, professional athletes and entertainers as well as numerous heads of state. Harold enjoyed more than 50 years of greeting nearly every customer who walked through the doors of his store.
Harold was committed to the Heights area of Houston and played a prominent role in its revitalization. During his lifetime, he received countless awards and accolades from the many charitable organizations he supported throughout the years.
