Ernie L. Samuelson, 94, of Waco, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012. Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 16. Burial will follow at St. Olaf Cemetery aka Old Rock Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room.
Ernie Louise was born in Bosque County, Texas, to the late William Carl and Mithilda "Matilda" (Klostermann) Wiese. She was baptized into the Christian faith at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap on November 12, 1922, and was confirmed in that faith there on June 25, 1933. She married Elmo O. Hovend on June 1, 1943. On January 21, 1955, she married Cecil O. Samuelson. Her faith in God and His mercies were a great support and comfort to her in life. Ernie worked in the garment industry prior to her retirement. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, Waco, where she participated in Ruth Circle and First Lutheran Church Women, 50+, and various activities, including making lap robes and quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She loved gardening and was always tending her flowers. Ernie was a woman of great love, who always gave freely to everyone. She loved children and found many ways to help children in need. She was an inspiration and a source of great strength to her family.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmo, in Normandy, France, on June 21, 1944; her second husband, Cecil, on December 31, 1975; four brothers; and eight sisters.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
