Alice Marie Balk, age 80, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Montgomery. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery, Le Sueur. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home, Montgomery.

Alice, the daughter of Joseph and Lucy (Traxler) Wieland, was born at home in Le Center on Aug. 17, 1927. She married Edward Balk at St. Henry Catholic Church in 1946. She was a homemaker and also worked outside the home at local grocery and hardware stores. She was a member of Holy Redeemer's CCW.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Balk of Montgomery; five children, Connie Jackson of Northfield, Joe Balk of Savage, Sally Radermacher of New Prague, Chuck Balk of Brainerd and Mike Balk of Hastings; brothers, Tony Wieland of Le Center and Dick Wieland of St. Henry; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
