Eunice Janice (Wiedrich) Hereford, age 70, entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Eunice was born to Walter and Edna (Frasch) Wiedrich on October 1, 1943 in Beulah, North Dakota. She met and married her first love, Walter Voegele; and, shortly after their marriage in 1960, they moved to Missoula, Montana and started their family. Missoula was always her favorite place.
After Walt's death in 1977, Eunice met and married Frank Hereford in 1983. They moved to Broadus, Montana in 1994 and purchased the Cashway Café. The café soon became a well-known, trusted and much visited restaurant for locals, hunters and truckers. The locals loved the senior and Sunday buffets; and, the hunters, the large portions and home-cooked style. Travelers review the restaurant as friendly staff, best chili ever, best turkey sandwich west of the Mississippi, and really good coffee. Eunice made some of the best pies and dessert bars ever! Even after Frank's death in 1999, her passion for the restaurant continued and was evident to all.
Eunice loved knitting, cooking, as well as family history and ancestry. She could remember stories and details others couldn't and, as she would say, "was always right". A good joke was always quickly followed by her memorable laugh. Eunice also had a special enthusiasm for playing cars with family, the slots in Deadwood, and the polka. She was always on the move, never really sitting still. Anyone who knew Eunice would agree that no matter the time of day, "her door was always open".
Eunice is survived by her son, Walt Voegele, Jr.; daughter, Sandy (Voegele) Palea; two brothers: Mike Wiedrich and Jon Wiedrich; two step sons: Bill Hereford and Bob Hereford; one step daughter, Terry Paske; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband's Walt and Frank; her parents Walter and Edna; a sister Arlis (Wiedrich) Fuchs; a brother Arnold Wiedrich; and a good friends and "brother" Keith VanBuren.
