Zelphia Pearl Borah, daughter of Walter and Ida Widdifield, was born July 20, 1895, in Dorrance, Kans. and died March 22, 1980, at Hadley Regional Medical Center of Hays. She had been a resident of Canterbury Villa for 15 months preceding her death.
Pearl moved with her parents to Oakley in 1909. She joined the Christian Church of Oakley in October 1912 and was a member of that church at the time of her death. She was also a member of Eastern Star and Rebecca Lodge.
On May 12, 1916, she was united in marriage to Kilby A. Borah. To this union three children were born, two boys, Adalton and Gerald who preceded her in death, and one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Lois) Wheeler of Hays. She has one chosen daughter, Mrs. Craig (Doris) Campbell of Humble, Texas.
Pearl and Kilby lived in Grinnell, until 1954 when they moved to Bird City, and resided there until the death of Kilby in 1963. Pearl moved back to Oakley in 1964, where she lived until her health failed and she moved to Hays.
Survivors include her daughter, Lois and son-in-law, Paul; Doris and son-in-law, Craig; eights grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Bertrand of Oakley; Dorothy Dalton and husband, Lyle, of Las Cruses, N. Mex.; Marie Blythe and husband, John of Peralta, N. Mex.; one brother, Leo Widdifield of Las Cruses; several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Pearl loved people and will always be lovingly remembered for her cheerful smile and her concern and thoughtfulness for others.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 25, at the Christian Church in Oakley, Kans. and interment was at the Grinnell Cemetery.
A memorial fund for the Christian Church has been established at the Farmers State Bank of Oakley.
Arrangements were handled by the Koster Funeral Home.
