Betty Arnold (Wickham) (Black) Averitt was born on April 13, 1911 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, and she was the daughter of Enoch Tanner Wickham (1883–1970) and Annie Lena (Yarbrough) Wickham (1884–1968).
She was married 1st to Lester Ray Black (1915–1971), the son of John "Willie" Black and Letha (Black) Black. Betty was married 2nd to Earl James "Pete" Averitt (1913–1983).
Betty was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Living in Clarksville, Montgomery County, she was 93 years old when she died September 25, 2004 at Montgomery County Nursing Home in Clarksville.
Survivors included two sons, a daughter, four sisters, nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Wickham Cemetery in Canaan, Montgomery County.
