Shirley died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at St. John's Lutheran Home.
Shirley A. Wichmann was born on March 4, 1914, to Earl and Helen Stevens on a farm near Conger. She grew up in the Conger area and graduated from Alden High School. She attended the University of Minnesota for one year. On Dec. 6, 1937, Shirley was united in marriage to Harry Wichmann at Concordia Bear Lake Lutheran Church. The couple lived in the Conger area where they farmed. Shirley was a homemaker, and in her later years she worked in the kitchen at St. John's Lutheran Home. Shirley was a wonderful seamstress and also enjoyed gardening. Shirley was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Conger.
Survivors include her children, Lowell (Julia) Wichmann of Ellendale, Edward Wichmann of Alden, Carol (Ken) Killen of Oregon, Linda Elstad of Faribault, Susan Wichmann (D.R. Martin) of Minneapolis and Dawn Wichmann of Eagan; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Alison Seaton of Albert Lea. She is also survived by several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; daughter-in-law, Sharon Wichmann; sisters, Helen Marpe and Erliss Bear; and brother, Norman Stevens.
