LORAIN - Flora M. Adkins (nee Whitt), age 75 and a resident of Lorain, died Thursday, August 29, 2013, at the Cleveland Clinic after a sudden illness.
She was born in Logan, West Virginia, March 23, 1938, to the late Andrew and Molly (nee Stollings) Whitt. Flora has resided in the Lorain/Amherst area for the past 20 years. Throughout her life she was a homemaker whose greatest joy was taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. She liked to travel and visit her extended family. In the past, Flora attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst.
Survivors include her four children; Danny (Marilyn) Adkins of Genoa, Diana Adkins of Toledo, Robert Glen Adkins of Florida, Andrew (Megan) Adkins of Lorain, 12 grandchildren; Matthew and Austin Adkins, Marcus Adkins, Julianne Badreddine, Jennifer Adkins, Jacqueline Adkins, Jessica Crowder, Melissa Balwin, Benjamin Hooks, Jonathan Hooks, Sara Hooks, Logan Adkins; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Freda Whitt of Florida and Goldie Whitt of North Ridgeville, and three brothers, Bobby Whitt of North Ridgeville, and Grover and Allen Whitt, both of West Virginia.
In addition to her parents, Flora was preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Harper and brothers Franklin, Danford, and Wayne Whitt.
Family will receive friends Monday, 4-8 p.m., at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst.
Closing prayers Tuesday, 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
