Sarah C. Whitney was born in East Otto, Cattaraugus county, New York, March 10, 1845, and died at West Chehalem, Yamhill county, Oregon, March 14, 1906.
She was married to Almon Bartholomew December 4, 1864. To this union nine children are born, four of which have passed to the other shore. She leaves a husband and five children to mourn her loss; two sons, Hugh and Elmer and three daughters, Mrs. May Vinton, Mrs. Elsie Nelson and Anna Bartholomew. Also Mrs. Lillian Dix, her only sister's child, whom she mothered and loved as her own.
Nrs. Bartholomew was a devoted wife, a fond and loving mother, a kind friend and neighbor, a true Christian. None knew here but to love her.
The funeral services were held on Friday afternoon and were conducted by Jesse Edwards.
