FITCHBURG - William E. Whitney, 60, of 150 Myrtle Ave., died Sunday in his home after a long illness.
He was born in Leominster, son of Mary (West) Whitney and the late Elmer Whitney.
Besides his mother, of Worcester, he leaves a son, Stephen K. Whitney of Houston, Texas; a stepson, John Rasmussen of Hartford, Conn.; a daughter, Sandra Whitney of Bristol, Conn.; two brothers, Paul Whitney of Naples, Fla., and Carl Whitney of Marlboro; three sisters, Gladys Charron of Lake Jackson, Texas, Irene Crofton of Conroe, Texas, and Claire Damery of Gardner; and several nephews and nieces.
He was a graduate of Leominster High School and New Haven College.
He previously owned and operated a photo album business in Texas.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, and also in the U.S. Army in Germany.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster.
A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home prior to the service.
