Deceased Name: RALPH R. WHITNEY, 79

LEOMINSTER - Ralph R. Whitney, 79, of 61 Washington St. died Saturday night in Mystic Nursing Center, Fitchburg, after an illness.

He leaves a son, Peter R. Whitney of Lunenburg; a daughter, Susan W. Cade of Leominster; a close friend, Blondell W. Nichols of Leominster; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was born in Leominster, son of Ralph A. and Susan (Mager) Whitney, and lived here most of his life. He graduated from the former Mitchell Military Academy in Billerica. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Whitney was a paper cutter at Chase Paper Co. in Westboro for more than 25 years, retiring in 1976.

At his request, no funeral services are planned. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, 02115. Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., is directing arrangements.
