FITCHBURG - Jean (Trevor) Whitney, 82, of 1341 Water St., formerly of Leominster, died Sunday in Mystic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after an illness.
Her husband, Gordon P. Whitney, died in 1974. She leaves a son, John Hurley of Stuart, Fla.; two daughters, Mary A. Mastellar of Barnard, Kansas, and Barbara J. Winship of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., daughter of Lenord and Lillian (Baker) Trevor, and lived many years in Leominster before moving to Fitchburg in 1988.
Mrs. Whitney was a member of Unitarian-Universalist Church, Leominster Grange, Senior Citizens Club, Golden Age, American Legion Auxiliary and Rebekah Lodge 68; all in Leominster. She was also manager of the Unitarian Church's gift shop, until her illness.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Unitarian-Universalist Church, 15 West St., Leominster. Private burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7 Oak St., Worcester 01609. Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster, is directing arrangements.
