MRS. WHITNEY DIES AT THE PIONEER HOME
The many friends in Yavapai county will regret to learn of the death of Mrs. Lucy E.
Whitney at the Pioneers' Home at 5:30 yesterday evening. Mrs. Whitney was one of the old
pioneers of this county and of Arizona. Born in Knox county, Missouri, on April 4, 1846,
she was married there, and came to Phoenix with her husband in 1882. Had she lived until
the 16th of December, she would have been married 54 years.
For about 34 years, Mr. and Mrs. Whitney lived in Yavapai county, making their home for
the larger part of that time at Mayer.
They have been the guests of the state at the Pioneers' Home for the past two years.
Mrs. Whitney coming there after a stroke of paralysis two years ago, which brought about
her death yesterday.
Arrangements for funeral services are being made.
