Active members of the LDS Church, Lorraine served as a Relief Society president, chorister and Sunday School teacher in various wards. Born in Ogden, Utah a daughter of Zulon E. and Emma Mae Carver Whitesides, she married Robert John Welsh, August 26, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Sewing and reading are her hobbies and she is survived by her husband, Robert John Welsh; sons, Jon E. Welsh, Mark (Lisa) Welsh; daughter Patti Rae (John Paul) Peterson; eight grandchildren, Vanessa, R. Loren, Sherilyn, Shon, Jesse, Rhiannon, Jennalyn, and Alia; and her sister Sally (Michael) Collins. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant grandson John Paul Peterson II, and brother Kent Whitesides.
