Mrs. Amanda Melvina Clark died on Thursday, June 29th, in Waterford at the age of 84 years. She was born in Stanberg (sic), Missouri, and married William T. Clark on July 16, 1883, in Missouri. They moved from Missouri to Enders, Nebraska, where they lived for 19 years. While there, Mrs. Clark joined the Church of the Brethren. Then Mrs. Clark lived in La Junta, Colorado, for 10 years. The Clarks came to Waterford 24 years ago and Mr. Clark died a few years later.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lottie Beghtel of Waterford, Mrs. Hazel Avara of Sacramento, one son, Wesley R. Clark of San Diego; a son-in-law, Guy Humphrey of Riverbank; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Dora Whiteley; two children, Henry Clark, and Edith Humphrey, preceded Mrs. Clark in death. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Church of the Brethren at 10 o'clock on Monday morning, with F.E. Miller and the Rev. Leo Miller officiating. The Church of the Brethren quartet sang "Blest Be the Tie That Binds" and "God Will Wipe Away the Tears." Burial was in the family plot in the Modesto cemetery (sic).
