He attended Olmsted Falls Ohio schools from the first grade until he graduated from high school in 1956. After moving to Dallas Texas area in 1959, he attended Eastfield College. He majored in Business management and put his education to good use in his career with the United Postal Service, he served as a supervisor to the letter carriers at the Mesquite Texas Post Office until he retired. Most people did not know him well as he was a very private quiet type of person.
David married Phylla Sue Vanderpool on June 16,1957 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Berea,Ohio. They had four children, Suzanne Leigh was born in Berea Ohio on October 25, 1958, Trevor Allen was born at Baylor Hospital in Dallas Texas on August 3,1961,he died on Febuary 09,2008. Michelle Lynne was born at Baylor Hospital in Dallas Texas on October 17,1962 and Elizabeth Anne born at Mesquite Medical Center, Mesquite Texas on November 27,1968.
David and Phylla Sue were divorced in January 1976 but remained good friends and spent holidays, birthdays and special occasions with their children as a family throughout the rest of Davids life. He is missed by his first wife and his daughters, ten grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. David was living in Richardson, Texas when he died.
David married a lady named Pat in about 1980 and divorced her after approximately three years. Later he married the daugher of a fellow Barbershop singer. Beverly was only a year or two older than his daughter Suzanne. They lived together for about ten years before also divorcing and she moved to North Carolina, they remained friends and visited back and forth until her death.
In about late August of 2011 he found out he had developed Melenoma cancer in most of his internal organs, and started treatment immediately. It was to late to do any good. He had many skin cancers during his lifetime and one of them apparently was Melenoma. All skin cancers were removed and he was told everything was fine as the doctors had gotten all the cancer cells. This was proven to not be true by his later illness. When it was discovered he was already at stage four. The final months of his life were mostly spent in Baylor Hospital, where around December first 2011 it was found that he also had a brain tumor.
The combination of these things was the cause of death at about 5:10 P.M. on December 09,2011.
A memorial service was held on December 17,2011 by The Rev. William Cavanaugh at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 421 Custer Road, Richardson, Texas 75080. The memorial service was attended by family, friends from the church and the Barbershop Quartets he had sang with over the years. The Holy Eucharist [Communion] was served to all baptized Christians attending.
