Mary Lee Whiteley

July 23, 1909 – January 25, 2006

Mary Lee Whiteley, 96, of Rockdale, passed away on January 25, 2006 at the Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Calvin Springer and Rev. Doug Springer at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale on January 28, 2006. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mary Lee was a lifelong resident of Milam County and lived in Rockdale most of her life. She was born on July 23, 1909 in Rockdale to Bertha Sparks Parker. She was married to Julius Whiteley on July 25, 1926 in Cameron. She was the retired owner/operator of Whiteley the Florist for many years in Rockdale. Her husband, Julius preceded her in death in 1980. Also preceding her in death were her daughter-in-law, Janice Reed Whiteley, Brother L.V. Parker and sisters, Ethel Barringer and Velma Brooks.

She is survived by her sons, J. R. Whiteley, Jr. and wife Sue of Rockdale and Jerry Whiteley and wife Patti of Katy; grandchildren, Mike Whiteley of Mt. Vernon, Libby Kenjura of Chappell Hill, Tina Magness of Corsicana, Heather Hernandez of Frisco and Hannah Whiteley of The Colony; brother, Floyd Parker of Garland. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Serving as pallbearers were Billy Thompson, Bobby Denman, Charles Denman, Johathan Muston, Gene Jones and Raymond Story.

Mary Lee was a member of Rockdale Full Gospel Church. She was a member of the church quilting circle and entered the Rockdale Fair every year with her canned vegetables from her garden.
