Funeral service for Ralph W. Whiteley, 89, Lawton will be at 10:00 am Monday, June 3, 2013 at Centenary United Methodist Church.

Mr. Whiteley died Thursday, May 30, 2013 in Lawton.

Burial with military honors will be in the Cache Cemetery under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

* The Family will greet friends Sunday afternoon at the funeral home from 4pm until 6pm.*

He was born October 14, 1923 in Okay, Oklahoma to Franklin M. and Alta Mae (Hubbell) Whiteley. He graduated from Temple High School in 1941. He served in the US Army during WW II with the 44th Infantry Division, European Theatre; France, Germany, Austria and England. He was honorably discharged in November of 1945. He graduated from Central State College with a Bachelors Degree in Education, and he taught school and coached in Snyder, Oklahoma from 1948 until 1953. He earned his Masters Degree from Western Colorado College in 1953, and taught school at Walters, Oklahoma from 1953 until 1960. He taught English at Cameron Junior College from 1961 until 1966, and then became Assistant Principal at Tomlinson Junior High in Lawton from 1966 until 1969. He worked in Administration at Cameron from 1969 until 1986 when he retired from his long tenure as an educator. Ralph wrote the Outdoor Column for the Lawton Constitution for 33 years, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

Ralph is survived by his two sons, Tom Whiteley and his wife Tammy of Oklahoma City, Jim Whiteley of Lawton, a brother Lou Whiteley and his wife Ruth of Lawton, granddaughter Dr. Tara Shaw Hall and husband Michael of Oklahoma City, twin great grandsons, Hudson Gregory and Jason Andrew Hall of Oklahoma City, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and seven siblings.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cameron University Foundation, in Honor of Ralph W. Whiteley, 2800 W. Gore Blvd., Lawton, OK 73505.
