HELEN WHITEHEAD COLLINSWORTH
Helen "Heidi" Whitehead Collinsworth, adored wife of Tommy and blessed mother of Christin and Tiffanie, bravely fought a battle she did not choose. On September 27, 2012, she was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Quentin and Mary Helen Whitehead, her very special aunt, Mattie Rose Whitehead Stevens and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
July 14, 1956, blessings rained from Heaven for Quentin and Mary Helen and their 3 sons, Derial, Raymond and Mike, when they welcomed their little princess, Helen into the world. Over the years, her mother instilled in her the importance of family and a great love for music and playing piano, but mostly for our Heavenly Father. Helen faithfully used her God given talent for more than 35 years by following in her mother's footsteps as a church musician. She has been the organist at Trinity Baptist Church for the past 14 years, making her way up the aisle to the organ when she was really too weak to even walk.
November 22, 1978, Tommy and Helen began their lives together as husband wife. Then came what Helen has often said were her greatest accomplishments, her daughters, Christin and Tiffanie. This November would make 34 years that Helen has been a faithful, loving and Godly wife; each year giving the couple valleys to walk thru and mountain tops to look out upon together.
The shattered souls she leaves behind are her husband of 34 years, Tommy Collinsworth; daughter, Christin Smith and husband, Brannon; daughter, Tiffanie Green and husband, John; step-son, Andy Collinsworth and wife, Allison. Heidi, as some called her was often known to wear a shirt that said, "my greatest blessings call me Heidi". These greatest blessings are, Gabriel, Peyton, Preston and Chloe Smith; Lillie, Isabella, Lola and Collin Green and Ethan Collinsworth. She also leaves behind 3 brothers, Derial Whitehead and wife, Sue of Cookeville, TN; Raymond Whitehead and wife, Kay of Magnolia, AR; and Mike Whitehead and wife, Debbie of Walkers Creek, AR; and one sister-in-law, Linda Hambrice. Also left to remember her are 12 nieces and nephews and 16 great-nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nieces and nephews. Being the baby of her family and having 3 big brothers, our Heidi also said good-bye to a very special friend and "sister she never had", Jeannie Stevens and her daughter, Kari Cearley. In her last few days, Helen met a new and very special friend in her nurse, Angie Bowen and the entire Serenity Hospice staff.
In the past 11 months, Helen has so bravely and humbly fought the beast we call cancer. Throughout her illness as well as her life she has been an inspiration to all who have met her. Even on the worst of days she could find a blessing and a reason to smile. The sun shone brighter when she smiled; the world is a better place because she was born; now Heaven is more glorious than ever before. The gates of memory never close, and so our Heidi will be right beside us until the day she welcomes us Home!
