Mrs. Nell Whitehead Hagen, 93, died Tuesday morning (December 20, 2005) at Baptist Village following a brief illness.
She was a native of Wayne County, GA but had resided in Brantley County since 1932. She was married to the late James Kice Hagen and was the daughter of the late Charles L. Whitehead and Mollie Hiers Whitehead. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lanell Mobley and a son, Freddy Hagin.
She was a former nurses aide at the Ware County Hospital and a former employee of Rubin Brothers Footwear. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, the Mary Dorsey Sunday School Class and the Joy Group.
The survivors include two daughters, LaVerne Thomas of the Calvary Community, Mary Ellen Usry of Waycross; a son, Dick Hagen (wife Dorothy) of Waycross; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Hagin of Waycross; a sister, Ruby Diaz of Waycross; a brother, Burrell Whitehead of Waycross; 18 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and 26 great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday (December 22, 2005) at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Wednesday night from 6 until 8.
