Her many friends in this city will be pained to learn of the death yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock of Mrs. Emily Arnold Whitehead, wife of John B. Whitehead, at the family residence, Freemason and Bank streets. Mrs. Whitehead was stricken with paralysis last Sunday, from which she never recovered. She was one of the best known ladies in Norfolk and of sweet character. The deceased was sixty-nine years of age, and leaves a husband and three children-a son, Mr. H. C. Whitehead, and two daughters, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Walke. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, having been a communicant of the same for many years.

WHITEHEAD - Entered into rest on Tuesday, June 2d, 1896 at 2 p. m., Mrs. EMILY ARNOLD WHITEHEAD, beloved wife of John B. Whitehead, of this city.

The funeral of Mrs. Emily Arnold Whitehead, the wife of Mr. John B. Whitehead, took place at 6 p. m. yesterday from the family residence, corner of Freemason and Bank streets, and was conducted by Rev. Dr. J. R. Howerton, of the First Presbyterian Church, assisted by Rev. Dr. O. S. Barten, of Christ Episcopal Church, and Rev. A. S. Lloyd, of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The interment was in Elmwood.
Honorary - Charles Reid , Gen. Page, Col. Tait, R. W. Santos, Charles Sharp, R. B. Tunstall, Maj. R. C. Taylor, Barton Myers, W. T. Irvine.
