Ellen C. Whiteaker, 72, of Enola, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born Jan. 31, 1932, in Williamsburg, she was a daughter of the late Benjamian and Irene C. Hatch Lear. She was the widow of Arthur L. Whiteaker Sr.
A graduate of Williamsburg High School and Dickinson College, Mrs. Whiteaker was retired from AMP Inc. in Harrisburg.
She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Enola and American Legion Post 109 Auxiliary in Mechanicsburg.
She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn S. Sunday of Mechanicsburg, Linda L. Look of Carlisle and Hazel I. Chisholm of Denver, CO; three sons, Arthur L. Jr. and Joseph W., both of Enola, and James R. of Etters; seven sisters, Martha Blair and Joyce Verbonitz, both of Williamsburg, Marie Wilson and Geraldine Favasuli, both of Harrisburg, Helen Dodson of State College, Marion Lear of Indiana, Pa., and Thelma Morley of New York; six brothers, Donald and Raymond Lear, both of Williamsburg, George Lear of Williamsport, Charles and Earl Lear, both of Harrisburg, and Benjamian Lear of Virginia; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Myers Funeral Home, 37 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. James A. Houck officiating. Private burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
Friends may call Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of American Legion Post 109, P.O. Box 189, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
