DORIS IRENE BIER was born September 16, 1931 in Tillamook, Oregon, the daughter of the late Victor L. White and Iva Jean (Nelson) White. She was raised and received her education in the Tillamook community, having attended the Wilson Grade School, Liberty Junior High and Tillamook High School, having been a graduate of the Class of 1949. Upon her high school graduation she attended Oregon State College, and she was affiliated with the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Doris also attended Lewis and Clark College.
She was united in marriage with Clarence Eugene "Chuck" Bier on August 14, 1954 in Corvallis, Oregon. Following their marriage they resided in Corvallis for four years, before moving to the Woodburn community. They resided in Woodburn for six years, until 1965 when they moved to the Forest Grove community, where she had resided since.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck, on March 19, 1977 in Forest Grove, Oregon, after celebrating over twenty-two years of marriage together.
She had worked for her father's Insurance Office and Steven's Realty & Insurance Office in Tillamook, Oregon. While living in the Corvallis community, Doris worked in a Bank and for Barker's Insurance Office.
After moving to the Forest Grove community, she worked for the Forest Grove School District as a Library Assistant for the Gales Creek Elementary School for thirty-three years, until the age of sixty-seven, when she retired.
Doris was very civic-minded and served her community. She was a member of the Silver Wave Assembly, Order of Rainbow for Girls in Tillamook, Oregon; the Silver Wave Chapter #18, Order of the Eastern Star in Tillamook, Oregon; she served on the Rainbow Boards for the Forest Assembly, the Adult State Executive Board, ORG; she was a Charter member and Past matron of the Home Star Chapter, #187 O.E.S. in Forest Grove, Oregon; a member of the Christina Court, Order of the Amaranth, the Nydia Temple; Daughters of the Nile, the Forest Hills Nile Club, the Garters in the Grove and the Red Hat Society,
Among her special interests, she enjoyed reading, shopping, travel, eating out and she volunteered for many years at the Gift Shop at the Forest Grove Senior Service Center.
Doris was also preceded in death by her parents, Victor L. White and Iva Jean (Nelson) White, of Corvallis, Oregon.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Suzi Bier, of Hockinson, Washington;
her three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Ed Van Scoten, of Cornelius, Oregon; Kimberly and David Namen, of Abingdon, Virginia; and Kelly and Joseph Britton, of Cornelius, Oregon; her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara J. and Andy Klein, of Forest Grove, Oregon; and her brother and sister-in-law, Victor L., Jr. and Gwen White, of Corvallis, Oregon.
Also surviving are eighteen grandchildren and their spouses, Stephanie and Daniel Egli, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Emily Bier, attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah; Alyssa and Jacob Hasler, of Rexburg, Idaho; Sarah Bier, attending Brigham Young University in Rexburg, Idaho; Michael Van Scoten, of Portland, Oregon; Joshua Van Scoten, of Beaverton, Oregon; Andrew Van Scoten, of Cornelius, Oregon; Adam Van Scoten, of Beaverton, Oregon; Kevin Van Scoten, of Colorado; Aaron Van Scoten, of Cornelius, Oregon; Rebecca Van Scoten, of Cornelius, Oregon; Sarah Turner, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Trenna Turner, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Michael and Julia Clooten, of Portland, Oregon;; David "D.J." and Deanza Britton, of Portland, Oregon; Nicole Bitton, of Forest Grove, Oregon; Michelle Britton, of Cornelius, Oregon; and Meagan and Kenny Irwin, of Raymond, Washington; her six great-grandchildren, Cyan and Leah Clooten; Corbin and Alex; Abigail Egli; and Jordan Ray Evans; her six nieces and nephews, Greg and Corrine Klein, of Monroe, Oregon; Steven and Lynn Klein, of Issaquah, Washington; Susan and Brian Holcomb, of Newberg, Oregon; Lisa White, of Corvallis, Oregon; Tracy White, of Yardley, Pennsylvania; and Elizabeth and Chris Doerr, of Lakewood, Colorado; and her three great nephew and nieces, Joel Klein, Mischa Klein and Jessica Klein.
The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the DORIS I. BIER MEMORIAL FUND, care of the Library Fund at Gales Creek Elementary School, 9125 N.W. Sargeant Road, Gales Creek, Oregon 97117, in her memory.
