Vila C. Burmester, 86, of Lebanon passed away Tuesday at The Oaks in Lebanon.
Vila was born in her family's home in Scio, the daughter of Charles and Edna (Buchner) White. She attended the one-room school at Munkers through the eighth grade. She then attended Scio High School and graduated in 1941. After graduation, she worked for the state for three years. She later worked for Oregon State University for 13 years until an automobile accident forced her to retire. She had lived in Lebanon since 1945.
Vila enjoyed fishing with her family, crocheting and sewing. Working in her home and yard and spending time with family and friends were a pleasure to her. She was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Lebanon for many years.
Vila married Clenton E. Burmester in Scio on Oct. 11, 1944. He preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1996.
She is survived by her sons, Dale Burmester of West Linn and Monte Burmester of Hermiston; daughter Susan Jensen of Stayton; sister Louise Montgomery of Grants Pass; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Southside Church of Christ. Private interment will be in the Bilyeu Den Cemetery near Scio
