Wayne Everett White, the son of James and Carrie Garnett White, was born July 24, 1914, at his parents' home east of Hamlin, Iowa and died October 14, 2009, at the Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at the age of 95 years, 2 months and 20 days.

Wayne was baptized at a church near Hamlin and became a member of the Methodist Church in Audubon on October 27, 1963. He attended rural school and graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1932. He then helped operate the family farm.

On July 28, 1934, he was united in marriage to Bernice Lola Alexander at the Methodist Church in Panora, Iowa. They operated Wayne's family farm east of Hamlin until 1964. They continued to live on the farm until 1979 when they moved into Audubon.

After retiring from farming Wayne worked construction and helped build Interstate 80 Highway System. Later he was employed by the Iowa Department of Agriculture until he retired in 1984.

Over his life, Wayne was active in many community organizations and fund-raising efforts in the Audubon Community some of which included, 4-H, Hospice and Crime Stoppers.

He served on the County School Board during the sixties when the new Audubon High School was built.

Bernice died March 10, 2001. Wayne lived in their home until he moved to the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa.

On July 24, 2009, he moved to the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Monticello, Iowa.

Wayne was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Audubon for more than 40 years.

Wayne enjoyed pheasant hunting and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed playing cards and in his younger days was an excellent dancer.

Wayne was very dedicated to his family. He was very proud and devoted to his family and community.

Preceding him in death were his wife; an infant son Richard White; his parents; his brothers: Walter White, Harry White, Ralph and wife Thelma White; Ruth White and Helen and husband Lee Raymo.

Survivors include his children: Scott and wife Sherry White of Monticello, IA; Kimberly and husband John W. Grubb of West Des Moines, IA; his grandchildren: Matthew Wayne White of Cedar Rapids, IA; Sara Denise White of Des Moines, IA; Jenna Marie Brouk of Scottsdale, AZ; his step-grandchildren: Eric Grubb; Corrie and David Richards all of Des Moines; Andrew Grubb of San Diego, CA; his brother-in-law David and wife Virginia Alexander of Overland Park, KS; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Dwayne L. Ferguson at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon.
