Mrs. Floyd Banks, 85, of 901 N. Fifth St. died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 9, 1983, at Sunrise Terrace, Winfield. Although she had not been well for the passt two months, her death was unexpected.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, Washington. The Rev. Greg Berkey will officiate with interment in Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation has started at the funeral home. The family will receive callers at the Loyal Banks home, 603 N. Iowa Ave., this evening.
Mary White Banks was born Dec. 16, 1897, in Washington County, the daughter of Jud and Minnie Mills White. Reared and educated in the county, she married Floyd Banks on July 16, 1919.
Mrs. Banks farmed with her husband Near Dublin, West Chester and Keota before moving to Washington. She also taught school and worked at the Washington Button Factory. Mrs. Banks was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd of Washington; three sons, Roger of Des Moines, and Paul and Loyal, both of Washington; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Paul (Marjorie) Lytle of Burlington.
