PHYLLIS JOANNE (Chilk) WHITE SABREE, 78, of Huntington, formerly of St. Albans, W.Va., and Culloden, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was the widow of the late Charles Marshall Sabree Jr. Phyllis was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Culloden, to the late Ira C. and May Harte White. She was a member of the Highlawn Presbyterian Church in St. Albans, where served as an Elder of the Session. She was a 51-year member of the Eastern Star-Order #133 Dunbar, W.Va. She is retired from the Kanawha County Board of Education. She was well known for playing the Halloween Witch for her neighborhood children in St. Albans and Huntington for over 40 years. Phyllis and Charles were blessed with two loving children, son Phillip Marshall Sabree and his wife, Michelle, of Peachtree City, Ga., and daughter Charlotte Harte Smith and her husband, Pat, of Huntington. They have four wonderful grandsons, Ryan Marshall and Hunter Lee Smith of Huntington and Justin Charles and Callyn Marshall Sabree of Peachtree City, Ga. Also surviving Phyllis are three sisters, Emma A. Hall of Huntington, Rosemarie Forsyth of North Beach, Md., Pauline (Pooch) and her husband, Billy Joe Sunderland, of Hurricane, W.Va.; and two brothers, Ira (Clifford) White of Culloden and Robert (Bob) and his wife, Lucy White, of Denton, Texas. She was also preceded by two sisters, Arguerite and her husband, Ira Handley, Billie and her husband, Donald Rappold; and brother Glen L. and his wife, Cleo White; three other sisters-in-law, Odana and Nellie White and Wilma D. Grant; three other brothers-in-law, Donald Schwesig, Chester Forsyth and Tody Grant; father-in-law, Charles M. Sabree Sr; and mothers-in-law Nora Feathers and Eva Sabree; and two nephews, Billy Ray Hall and Paul Schwesig. Phyllis (Chilk) was the "crazy" aunt to Rawnie Kaye, Robin, Rod, Jacqueline, Joanne, Ira, David, Sharon, Donna, Stephen, Deborah, Phoebe, Polly, Shelly, Dickie, Billy and Eddie, all of whom she loved dearly. She also had enough love to share with her grand and great-grandnieces and nephews and her many friends. Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by the Rev. Rick Wilson. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
