Christiane Grossman (nee White) passed away from a stroke on November 12, 2011 at the age of 65.
Chris graduated from the University of Delaware in 1969 Phi Beta Kappa in chemistry and was tapped for Mortar Board. She continued her excellence in the workforce being a trailblazer for women in sales with the Rubber Industry. In 1991, when Union Carbide decided to sell rubber, they polled the industry customers, and upon their recommendations hired Chris for their sales position. She was also the only female chairperson for three different Rubber Groups of the American Chemical Society. Chris, along with her husband Richard, supported many charities and the Arts. Chris loved many and was the personification of kindness and generosity. She found great joy with her tennis, yoga friends, and work colleagues and loved travel and gardening.
Chris is survived by her loving mother Amelia White; her husband and friend Richard; sisters Daryl Urzen and Kathy Lloyd (Stephen); children, Allen Grossman (Susan), Jana Nakata (Henry); grandchildren, Alex, Mark and Victoria; nephews and nieces, Jason Lloyd (Carla), Chandra Urzen (Lisandro Cabrera), and Kirsty Lloyd; great nieces, Eliza and Sasha and her dear friend Roxy.
A private graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday November 18, 2011 in Silverbrook Cemetery.
