NEWPORT NEWS - Catherine W. Moore, 80, born in Edgemore, S.C., to the late Katie Lynn and Morris White, was called home to be with her heavenly Father on April 14, 2011, after a short illness.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otis C. Moore Sr.; three brothers and two sisters.
Catherine is survived by four children, Avery Hughes, Otis Moore Jr., (Ursula), Renee' Johnson (Kendric), and Darryl Moore (Cathy); 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Spragon; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A homegoing service will begin at noon Thursday, April 21, at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 3509 Chestnut Avenue, Newport News. Interment at Hampton Memorial Gardens following the service. Family and friends should assemble by 11 a.m., at 911-12th Street, Newport News, for a procession to the church. A viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today, April 20, followed with a family visitation from 6 to 7 p.m.
