Bonnie Jane Nunnery White, 74, of McComb and a former longtime resident of Clinton, La., died March 27, 2010, at Beacham Memorial Hospital in Magnolia. Visitation is 6 to 8 tonight at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home and continues at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church in McComb until services there at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Donald Dick officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mrs. White was born Oct. 28, 1935, in McComb, to Bonney Lee and Lois Schilling Nunnery.
Mrs. White was a 1953 graduate of McComb High School. She attended Southeastern Louisiana College and received a bachelor of arts degree from Mississippi College in 1957. She was a social worker for the Pike County Welfare Department for a short while. For many years she and her husband ran an Exxon gasoline distributorship in Clinton.
She was a member of First Christian Church of McComb, the Judith Robinson Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, the Magnolia Chapter of Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, and was a former member of Brent Rifles Chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Four Seasons Club and the Twenty-One Club.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur Lester White; and a son, Robert Lester "Bob" White. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John Lee and Alinda Cruise White of Liberty; a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Jack L. and Sue Dennis Nunnery of Magnolia; two very special cousins, Harriett S. Woods and Linda S. Clark of McComb; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special friends include Mary Summers of Brookhaven and Gail King and Dixie Fouche of McComb.
Pallbearers will be Ben Dobson of Natchitoches, La., Phil T. Graham of Baton Rouge, Chris Halphen of Clinton, Bill Nunnery of Magnolia, Dean Smith of Smithdale and Brad Clark of McComb. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Clark and J.C. Woods of McComb.
The family would like to thank her many friends for their love and support during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church of McComb or to The Favorite Few at First Baptist Church of McComb.
