Longtime Morton resident; devoted to her faith

Mary Dawson Whiteside, 86, of Morton, died June 25 at home.
Born in Java, Va., Mrs. Whiteside lived in Morton for many years.
She was a former member of Fairview Baptist Church in the Woodlyn section of Ridley Township, where she sang in the choir, served on the kitchen committee and was part of the usher board.
Mrs. Whiteside was the widow of William McKinley Whiteside. She was the daughter of the late Adelaide Womack and Robert Dawson and the sister of the late Robert Dawson, Jesse Dawson, Lois Jackson and Dorothy Davis.
Survivors: Daughters, Rosemary King of Sharon Hill, Nancy Shade of Morton, Deborah Miller, Lisa Whiteside, both of Chester; sons, William Whiteside of Morton, Robert L. Whiteside Sr. of Kennett Square, Chester County; brothers, Thomas Wilson of Philadelphia, Frank Wilson of Huntsville, Ala.; dear friend, Dora Rice; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Luke's Christian Community Church, Fourth Street and Central Avenue, Chester.
Visitation: 8-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Burial: Eden Cemetery, Collingdale.
Arrangements: Earl L. Foster Funeral Home, Chester.
