Delanson – Galen White, retired funeral director, was stricken and died Thursday night at the Valley Bowling Alley, Schoharie. He was 65.
Mr. White formerly operated funeral homes in Middleburgh, Schoharie and Delanson and also ran an insurance agency.
A lifelong resident of Delanson, he was on the advisory board of the Schoharie branch of the State Bank of Albany.
Mr. White was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Delanson volunteer fire company, the Noah Masonic Lodge of Altamont, the shriners and Commandery. He was director of the Grove Cemetery Association.
A private service will be helped Monday at the White Funeral home, with Rev. Knight Dunkerley, rector of Christ Episcopal Church officiating. The funeral home will be open from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
Survivors include his widow, the former Eva Curry; a daughter, Mrs. Warren Fiske of Meriden, Conn. A son, Loren White of East Hartford, Conn. And five grandchildren.

Galen Retired from the White Funeral Home in Delanson Jan 1956. Records show that Galen directed more than 90% of all the burials in Grove Cemetery from June 1932 till his retirement in 1956. Records also show that Galen purchase at lease 8 graves with his own money and gave them to people who could not otherwise afford the lot cost.
