Daughter of Richerson/Richardson/Richesson Whitby of Memphis and his second wife Perminta Barnhart Whitby. His first wife had been Camilla Wright, the sister of Fanny Wright.
Minerva Carr evidently died about the time her daughter Mrs. Ramsey died. She is not shown in the 1883 city directory nor subsequent directories.
Dale Schaefer, historian of Elmwood Cemetery, stated: "I do find a Mrs. M.W. Carr buried in Elmwood. She was buried 6-4-1881 in Chapel Hill #2, Space 712.... This area was sold as single graves and most of the graves are unmarked."
