Janet Wheeler Bozych, 76, of Fairmount, passed away June 8, 2013, at Crouse Hospital after a short illness surrounded by her loving family. Born on the West Side of Syracuse, graduated from St. Anthony's High School, she had spent most of her life in this area. The last 17 years she wintered in Myrtle Beach, So. Carolina with her husband and the many friends they made while they were there. She attended Holy Family Church in Fairmount. She held many jobs in her lifetime working at N.Y. Telephone, Price Chopper, Westhill School Cafeteria, Keegans and Bova's B&B at the NYS Fair, but she was best at being wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver. In every sense of the word she was a caregiver. She volunteered for the Elks and American Legion in Myrtle Beach raising money for the veterans, college scholarships, and Autism Awareness. She enjoyed reading, going to the Turning Stone and playing the machines in Myrtle Beach with her friends. She loved to bake, making most of her children and grandchildren's wedding cakes. She loved to watch the crabapple tree next to her deck blossom and always strived to be home in time to watch it bloom. This year it blossomed the best it ever has for her. Along with her husband she was an avid S.U., Yankees, and golf fan. As a teenager she took care of her younger brothers, always having one of them with her, even on her dates. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert D. and Georgiana O'Connor; her brother, Robert D. Jr. (Diane) and her sister, Rosemary "Tiny" (Tom) Murphy. She is survived by her husband, Paul; her children, James (Jackie) Wheeler, Lorianne Wheeler, Renee (Jon) Brittain, Michael (Christine Rothfuss) Wheeler, Daniel (Linda) Wheeler; stepchildren, Carol Anne (Steve) Moses, Paul Scott (Ann) Bozych; her brothers, Terrance (Kathleen) O'Connor, Kevin (Colleen) O'Connor; her special goddaughter, Maureen Murphy; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cherished friends. Although she is resting peacefully with our Lord, she will be forever in our hearts. "We Love Our Mom". A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., on Friday at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Burial will be private at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday June 13, 2013.
