Anne Rita Drass, 87, died, surrounded by her loving family at Meadowcrest Nursing Center, Bethel Park, Pa., Thursday, after an extended illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late John and Kathleen (Cassidy) Wharton. She married Thomas J. Drass Oct. 19, 1942, in Washington D.C. He preceded her in death March 1, 1990. She is survived by a son, Joseph F. Drass of Carnegie, Pa.; daughters: Kathleen Roe of Philadelphia, Mary Margaret Piliero of Turnersville, N.J., and Patricia Anne Rossi Francano of Philadelphia; a brother, John J. Wharton of Altoona; a sister, Patricia Deiswenger of Tyrone; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank in North Carolina. Mrs. Drass was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. She was an excellent cook. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing the piano. Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Committal at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
