Mrs. Allen Funeral Is Held in Rudd Church
RUDD, Jan. 4 -- Funeral services were held at he M.E. church Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Alice Wharton Allen, 65, with the Rev. H.F. Mercer officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Allen were married in Pennsylvania in 1904 coming soon to a farm near Rudd. She early joined the Methodist church and at one time was sent as a delegate to the Endeavor society of Boston. Burial was in the Rudd cemetery beside her infant son, Mrs. Allen was in poor health for the past five years and died a few minutes after receiving word of the death of her brother, David, at Morrall, Kans.

VICTIM HUSBAND SERIOUSLY ILL WHEN WORD COMES OF DEATH OF HALF BROTHER
Rudd, Jan 2 - Strain from caring for her husband and shock on receiving a message of the death of her half- brother were believed to have caused the death Tuesday of Mrs. Michael Allen at her home a mile south of Rudd.
Mrs. Michael had been caring for her husband, who had been seriously ill but was beginning to show improvement. Then she received a message that her half-brother died in Kansas.
She went to her room to lie down. Her son, Ross, soon went to her and found her dead.

Alice Bertha Wharton was born November 8, 1869 in Oliver, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William Wharton and Susan (Allen) Wharton.
She married Michael M. Allen, the son of Joseph Allen and Sarah (Myers) Allen.
