An attorney and co-founder of the Houston law firm, Hirsch and Westheimer. He was a graduate of The Rice Institute and received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law.

His biological father was Joseph Mark, who married his mother, Esther Kaplan, on 21 Aug 1904 in Houston. He was adopted by or took the surname of his stepfather, Adolf Westheimer, who was the father who raised him.

I. Mark Westheimer and Geraldine Kay Nagel were married 18 Nov 1941 in Los Angeles, California, by Rabbi Maxwell H. "Max" Dubin of the Wilshire Blvd Temple.

Mr. Westheimer, along with his law firm partner, Maurice Hirsch, was a tireless supporter of the Boy Scouts, the United Way, The Museum of Fine Arts and many of other community and civic organizations in Houston.

He was survived by his wife, Gerry Nagel Westheimer; two sons, Alan David Westheimer and Dr. Donald Nagel Westheimer; and a brother, David Westheimer of Los Angeles, California.
