Mrs. Sophia Lindquist, 93, died about 12:30 Sunday morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Garlinger, 1318 Fourth avenue, after an illness of one day.
She was born April 22, 1868 in Lenkoping, Sweden the daughter of Fredrick and Christine Wessman, and came to the United States in 1887 settling at Plano, Ill.
She was married to Charles Lindquist in 1888 and they moved to a farm northeast of Lake Odessa in 1915. Mr. Lindquist died in 1918, and in 1946 Mrs. Lindquist moved from the farm to the home of her son, Fredrick, in the village of Lake Odessa. She resided there until after his death October 31, 1958, when she went to live with her daughter and family.
Mrs. Lindquist was a member of the Lake Odessa Congregational church and the woman's fellowship of the church.
Surviving besides her daughter, Mrs. E. G. Garlinger, is a son, Oscar of Lansing; three grandchildren, Fredrick Garlinger, Laurel Garlinger, and Mrs. Arthur Raffler, and four great-grandchildren, all of Lake Odessa.
The body will repose at Pickens funeral chapel until Tuesday forenoon when it will be taken to the Congregational church where service will be conducted at 2 p.m. The Rev. Lawrence Runyon will officiate and burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery.
