Death: Mar. 27, 2011

Utah, USA

Ogden Jimmie Lee Bell, 89, joined her help-mate in heaven on Sunday, March 27, 2011, after an extended stay at McKay Dee Hospital. Born in Lumber, Arkansas on February 4, 1922 to Odessa Dockery Wesley and Arlander Wesley. Jimmie Lee was the ninth of eleven children raised and educated in Arkansas. She married her first husband Henry Wilson in 1937. They relocated to Utah for better employment opportunities in 1944. They later divorced. On January 5, 1963, she married Lorenzo T. Bell and they were married 40 years until his passing in 2003.

Jimmie worked as a housekeeper for many years in the Ogden area until she was hired as a Plastics Worker at HAFB where she was employed for 25 years before retiring from the federal government.

Jimmie was a faithful servant and member of New Zion Baptist Church which she actually named after the church relocated from Wall Avenue to its current location. During her 50 year plus membership she served in many capacities; as president of the choir, pastor aid, progressive club, circle mission and many others.

Jimmie Lee was a talented and gifted seamstress and was ahead of her time in her creations. She loved to create clothing items for her loved ones and her daughter benefitted from her wonderful talent the most. She loved her family and friends and entertained until her health began to fail. She loved cooking, fishing, music, and puzzles during her free time.

She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Bell Jones and son-in-law Keith Jones of Ogden, UT; eight grandchildren including one special granddaughter lovingly known as 'froggy"; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bina McCowan of Ogden, UT; Deborah Jordan of Phoenix, AZ; and one brother-in-law, Ray Finn of Ogden, UT. She is also survived by many nieces; nephews; cousins and her special "sister and brother" Henrene and Frank Waller of Arvada, CO.

Jimmie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters; four brothers and a son.

The family would like to give a special thanks to McKay Dee Hospital staff for the gentle and kind services they provided for our beloved momma, grandma, sister and aunt.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. at New Zion Baptist Church, 2935 Lincoln Ave., Ogden. Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., and on Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be at Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.
