Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend
Lola Jean Andrews was called home on Monday, February 28, 2005 at Sound Shore Medical Center. She was 72 years young.
She was born on February 23, 1933 in Sandy Ridge, Kansas to the late Leonard and Delora (Pettie) Wesley. After completing her education (including two years of college) in Coffeyville, Kansas she moved to Queens, NY.
On February 7, 1954, she married the love of her life, Thomas Cecil Andrews, in New Rochelle, NY and out of this union were born two daughters: Denise Andrews and Cecilia Dean and two sons: Dennis and Derrick Andrews. To Cecil's calm and reserved nature, Lola had an outgoing and warm strength and both were steadfastly dedicated to their children. The family moved to Mt. Vernon in 1962.
She was employed by Westchester Federal Savings Bank and Spraylat Corporation (from which she retired in April, 2001).
Lola enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and Foxwood. Lola traveled with Cecil and family to London and Hawaii. She was a member of the Seventh Street Bowling Team and won many tournaments. Most of all, she enjoyed coffee with her daughters and friends and spending time with her family. She was an active communicant at Sacred Heart Church, Mt. Vernon.
Lola was survived by her husband of 51 years, Thomas Cecil Andrews; her children Denise Andrews, Cecilia (Bernard) Dean, Dennis (Sharon) Andrews, and Derrick (Angela) Andrews; her grandchildren Corey (Lydia) Andrews, Kaitlin Hart, and Christian, Danielle, Briana, and Colby Andrews, her siblings Helen Sanchez, Meldon, Leonard (Betty), Clarence (Peggy) Wesley and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers and sisters.
