Miriam E. (Wertz) Altland, 95, passed away at Rest Haven - York, Sunday, November 11, 2012. She was the wife of Paul E. Altland, who died in February 2005. Miriam was born in Jefferson on June 19, 1917, daughter of the late Charles Wertz and Emma (Dubbs) Wertz Garver. She was employed as a seamstress for the former Danskin Inc., from which she retired. She attended Trinity Roth's United Church of Christ, Spring Grove. Mrs. Altland is survived by three sons, Charles E. Altland of York, David L. Altland and his companion, Jenny Leber of New Freedom, Philip W. Altland and his wife, Sue of York; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by four brothers, Richard and George Garver, and Edgar, and Herman Wertz. Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, from the Robert M. Goodling Funeral Service, 62 Main St., Seven Valleys, with a visitation prior to the service 12 noon to 1 p.m. Officiating will be Margareta M. Breden, Pastor of Friedensaal Evangelical Lutheran Church, Seven Valleys. Final resting place will be in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Roth's United Church of Christ, 6417 Church Rd., Spring Grove, PA 17362.
