Donald F. Werner, Sr. passed away January 11, 2007, in Shawnee, KS at the home of his daughter, surrounded by his family. He was born in Kansas City, KS, and lived there all his life. He attended Washington Rural High School and was a Marine stationed in El Toro, CA, during the Korean War. He was the owner of the Werner Mortuary and a member of Welborn Community Church.

He was a past master and life member of Armourdale Lodge, A.F.& A.M., past District Deputy Grand Master and served as Grand Junior Deacon. He was also a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a life member of Abdallah Shrine. Don was a Past Patron and fifty year member of Gladiola Chapter, Order of the Easter Star, and Past Noble Grand of Summunduwot Lodge, Order of the Odd Fellows, and a member of the Classic Packard Car Club which he greatly enjoyed.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, J. Chick and Josephine L. Werner, an infant daughter, and his brothers, J. Chick, Jr. and David Werner. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Phyllis Werner, his sister Dora Jambrosic, his daughter, Diana Vaughn and her husband Carl, his son, Donald, Jr., and his wife, Donna, his daughter, Laura Madrigal and her husband, Pete, grandchildren, Amy Abdelrahman and her husband Samer, Jeremy Cerda, Carmen Cordill, Derek Werner, Dana Werner, Crystal Madrigal, Elizabeth Madrigal, Peter Madrigal, and Anna Madrigal, step-grandson, Anthony Cerda, a special nephew, Charles E. Smith, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Funeral and Odd Fellow Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2007 at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave. Kansas City, KS. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where Masonic services will be held.
