CLAYCOMB Mrs. Dale R., 86, Ford County Lane, Osterburg, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at Altoona Hospital. Mrs. Claycomb was born Nov. 19, 1922, in West St. Clair Township, daughter of the late Clyde and Hazel (Miller) Wentz. On July 26, 1941, she married I. Stanley Claycomb. In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, James S., husband of Jane (Beegle) Claycomb; daughter, Linda L., wife of Frank Brumbaugh; son, Joseph Z., husband of Sandra (Miller) Claycomb; daughter, Debra D. Ryba; and son, Jeffrey K. Claycomb, and fiancee, Lorraine Deremer, all of Osterburg; sisters, Ferne Leppert, New Paris; and Donna Leibfried, Alum Bank; and brothers, Ira W. "Jack" Wentz, Lititz; Ray Wentz, Manassas, Va.; and Lee Wentz, Fort Worth, Texas. She also is survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by an infant brother, Clyde Wentz Jr., and by her sister, Jeanne King. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Alum Bank, where she served in the ladies auxiliary. Dale was a housewife who worked as a waitress at the Midway in Bedford, and with her husband co-owned the Cow in Alum Bank. She was an avid flower gardener and a fantastic cook. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home Inc., 4340 Quaker Valley Road, Pleasantville, with the Rev. Charles Jack officiating. Interment at Bedford County Memorial Park. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Alum Bank, Pa. 15221.
