JOHN PAUL WENTA, age 88 of Fostoria, MI. passed away Thursday, November 22, 2007 surrounded by his family at the Lapeer Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mayville, MI, with Sister Riccardina Silvestri officiating. There will also be a Scripture Service at 7 P.M. Monday at the Avram Funeral Home.. Interment will be at St. Michaels Cemetery at Deford, MI.. Family will receive friends 5-8 P.M. Sunday and 2-8 Monday at Avram Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends and family from 10 A.M. until time of the service on Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. John was born March 5, 1919 to Harry and Anna (Srelag) Wenta in East Dayton, MI. The family later moved to Wilmot and John graduated from Kingston High School. He worked at Cadillac Motors during WWII, then owned a gas station with his brother Stan in Fostoria. Later he worked as a service manager at Davison Ford Dealer until his retirement. He was a founding member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a member of the Polish-American Club of Caro, the Mayville Museum, Triad of Tuscola Co, Democratic Committee, Pinochle and Euchre Clubs. He was Fire Chief and member of the Fostoria Fire Department for many years. He is survived by his wife Margaret Kapral whom he married in Detroit, MI. in 1943, sons: James (Cindy) of Fostorian and Edward of Wolverine, daughters: Joanne Hatcher of Davison and Janet (Dennis) Moore of Glide, OR, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren, one sister Irene (Mort) Algase of Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by four sisters: Mary Rabias, Julia Paseshnik, Millie Moreland and Alice Cordero, three brothers: Joe, Mike and Stan Wenta and one grandson: Dustin Wenta. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church of Mayville or the Fostoria Fire Department.
