Funeral services for Loretta H. Amundson, 81, formerly of Wells, were held Monday, Nov. 30, 10:30 a.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wells, Minnesota, Reverends Ray Arveson and Dennis Timmerman officiated. Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells. Organist was John Degner and vocalist was Gerald Hendricks. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home of Wells, was in charge of arraangements. Pallbearers were Charles Amundson, Jim Hassing, Lawrence Schrader, Neil Prescher, Loren Prescher, and David Arndt.
Mrs. Amundson died Thursday, November 26, 1998, at St. Peter Health Care Center from complications of numerous strokes.
Loretta (Wendt) Amundson was born December 7, 1916 in Dunbar Township, Faribault County, Minnesota, the daughter of Otto and Lena (Frederick) Wendt. She graduated from Wells High School in 1934. She married Clifford Amundson on October 27, 1937.
Loretta and Clifford operated the Amundson Cafe in Easton and farmed. She enjoyed her family, traveling, camping, fishing, cooking, baking, crocheting, embroidery and gardening. She also enjoyed her summer home on Lake Washington and her winter home in Mesa, Arizona, and had wintered there since 1960.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford; two sons, Lloyd, wife LeAnn, of Wells; Gordon, wife Bonnis, of Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Blane, (wife Kerry) Amundson, Waldorf, Minn.; Shalaine (husband Rod) Olson, Winnebago, Minn.; Leshaine (husband Curt) Sonnek, Easton, Minn.; Corrine (husband John) Melkus, Apache Junction, Ariz.; Brandon Amundson, Los Angeles, Calif.; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clarence and Milo.
