The funeral for Mae Wells Bennington, 52, of 820 S. High St., Harrisonburg will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home by the Rev. Joseph Sefcik and the Rev. John Sayre.
Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Bennington died Wednesday morning at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since November.
She was born Aug, 24, 1924 at Arcadia and was a daughter of James R. and Edna Patterson Wells of Stuarts Draft.
Mrs. Bennington was reared in Buchanan and lived in Penn Laird and Bridgewater before moving to Harrisonburg in 1954. She formerly was station agent for Norfolk & Western Railroad at Port Republic and manager of the Keister Elementary School cafeteria. She recently had been a baker at Thomas Harrison Junior High cafeteria.
Mrs. Bennington was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Food Service Association.
On July 17, 1948, she married Carlos Bennington Sr., a letter carrier for the Harrisonburg Post Office.
Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are a daughter, Betty Ritchie of Hopewell; two sons, Carlos J. Bennington Jr. of Harrisonburg and John R. Bennington of Spring Creek; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Lou Ross and Jo Anne Ellinger, both of Waynesboro, and Blanche Mackey of Canadaigua, N.Y., and two brothers, Sam Wells of Glasgow and Lewis E. Wells of Lyndhurst.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7:30-8:30p.m. today.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1221
N. Main St., Harrisonburg.
