Mrs. Eleanor G. Wellons, 88, passed away Friday afternoon, November 2, 2012, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Isidore Nguyen Bá Ký officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends between the hours of 6:00 & 8:00 PM on Monday, November 5, 2012, at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., Americus.

Born February 8, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, Mrs. Wellons was a daughter of the late Frank Galkowski & Laura Sturtz Galkowski. She worked for 27 years at Manhattan Shirt Company in Americus, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the CCW of the Church.

Mrs. Wellons was preceded in death in 1973 by her husband, William T. Wellons and by a sister, Theresa Jankowski.

Survivors include a daughter, Loretta Brown of Riverdale; 4 sons, Billy (& Carol) Wellons of Byron, Chris Wellons of Americus, Wesley (& Vanessa) Wellons of Americus, and Michael (& Rita) Wellons of Perry; 2 sisters, Ann Aliotta of Silver Springs, FL and Jean Buturia of Queens, NY; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
