ANDERSON, Ind. — Ralph "Bob" Wellons, 85, Anderson, passed away July 10, 2012, at Saint John's Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 1, 1926, and had lived in this area all his life. Bob graduated from Anderson High School in 1944.
Bob served his country in the Navy as a machinist mate.
He retired from Delco Remy in 1991 after 33 1/3 years of service as a tool maker. He was a past member of the Local Flying Club, member of United Auto Workers Local 662, and lifetime member of the Chesterfield Legion Post 408. He loved playing the organ and volunteered to play for nursing homes.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly (Moore) Wellons; children, Robyn G. Carpenter (Karl Rudolf), Shelley A. Hunt (Brian) and Jeffrey Neil Wellons (Debbie), all of Anderson; sister, Mary Alice Dixon of North Carolina; grandchildren, Kenra Mroz (Mark), Brad Carpenter (Heather), Matthew Carpenter (Misty), Alison Cameron (fiancé, Jon Williams), Whitney Soden (Kendall), Jennifer Wellons and Robert Wellons (Ashley); 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Bessie (Wyant) Wellons; son, David Wellons; and infant brother, Paul Edward Wellons.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, Anderson, with Pastor Michael Deutsch officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
